Dr. David Perham, D.C.

Practicing Chiro in Maine Since 2023

Dr. Perham practiced in Portland, Oregon from 2010 to 2023 at integrative health clinics before joining Augat Chiropractic in 2023. For many consecutive years he has been selected as a ‘Top Doctor’ in the Portland Monthly magazine (Oregon). Along with his experience in private practice he has also held positions in chiropractic education.

Recognizing the strong relationship between the neuromusculoskeletal system and overall health, Dr. Perham appreciates that when not functioning effectively, the neuromusculoskeletal system can be a significant source of dysfunction and pain. This potential contributor to ‘disease’ can affect physical, emotional, and psychological health. His goal is to identify and treat the source of the patient’s pain and dysfunction, whether acute or chronic, and assist in his patients achieving optimal health.

Dr. Perham uses a range of treatment approaches, mainly diversified chiropractic manipulative technique for the spine and extremities. He also incorporates a variety of soft tissue treatment strategies and rehab techniques. He diagnoses and treats patients with varying complaints such as neck pain, back pain, extremity conditions, headaches, sports injuries, and motor vehicle injuries, among others. Dr. Perham takes an evidence-based approach to treating his patients by using the best available research, the patient’s preferences, and his practice experiences to best fit each patient’s needs.

Along with his history of treating patients, Dr. Perham was previously a faculty member at the University of Westerns States (UWS) in the College of Chiropractic from 2013 to 2018. There, he taught courses in spinal and extremity manipulation, orthopedic diagnoses of the spine and extremities, and orthopedic muscle testing. Also, with the Research Department, he worked on several NIH-funded studies on back pain and headaches. He is currently an instructor for Tulip Seminars, LLC, which provides small-group, hands-on, evidence-based continuing education (CE) for students and licensed DCs.

Dr. Perham grew up in the snow-belt of central NY State among his three brothers, and played multiple sports, mainly ice-hockey. Outside of work he enjoys outdoor activities, cycling, hiking, listening to music, cooking, and spending time with his wife, daughter, and dog.

Shoutout to Our Office Mascots!

Our special associates have the very important duty of bringing you happiness and peace during your visit.

Cure pup named Boz

Boz is our newest of four airedales we have had in our office throughout our 33 years of practice, and he may well be the most loving, gentle, relaxed, and friendly greeter of all of them. Boz is of championship lineage from Nova Scotia. Right from puppyhood, immediately established himself as a favorite of our patients. Like Sedge, Dex, and Dari before him, Boz takes his greeting responsibilities very seriously and is also in charge of demonstrating proper relaxation and stretching.

Green parrot named Al, facility director

Al is our resident facility director. He is a 25-year old Lilac-Crowned Amazon Parrot, and he resides in the Caj Mahal (his well-appointed cage). A steady stream of comments and songs emanate from Al’s residence. He certainly adds to the character of the place, and we find that kids who visit our office particularly enjoy this character. Al absolutely loves to interact with and entertain children, and they love him.
